Forever A Work In Progress?

Learn from me, so you can do you!

Defining moments, pivotal experiences, and the good, bad, and everything in between; all this made me who I am today:

A recovering perfectionist.

While I’ll forever be a work in progress (because we should never stop growing and changing) I’m also in a much better place than I was a couple of decades ago.

I’m still actively learning all the time, so why not stay connected so I can share my discoveries with you?

I’ve come a long way from being a stressed-out little girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders. I’ve done the work to dismantle my core negative beliefs; “I’m not smart enough to do this, I need to be better than everyone at everything, no one will like me if I’m not achieving all the things all the time” – and yeah, sometimes that work involved a breakdown or three.

 

The truth is I developed most of these foundational feelings as a child, as we all do, and carried them into adulthood without realising the weight of that emotional baggage.

 

The world around us shapes us into who we are, and when we’re little, we don’t really have a say in that.

 

But the other side of the coin is, as adults, we can do a little digging, discover our core values, feelings, and beliefs, and unearth them like dusty gems. Then we need to brush them off and put them on display. That’s the tricky bit.

 

But we’re powerful people. I am. You are. We can lead the lives we actually want, not those we think we should be leading in order to please others.

 

Sounds scary, doesn’t it? That means you’re in the right place. Read on.

What an incredible power we have as women.

 

Power to guide and shape the futures of our children and other young folk growing up in our orbits.

Along with that power comes the pressure to model behaviours that will set examples for them. And not to pile on to the stressors in your life right now, but what are you modelling for yours?

I was raised by a mum who lacked confidence, always put herself down, and couldn’t see how amazing and talented she was. I’ve witnessed how this behaviour (coupled with trauma) can turn into anxiety and/or a sense of not being good enough, along with how it rubs off on kids.

(And by ‘kids’, I mean me).

Without even realising it, I modelled similar behaviours with my daughter. It was only when I witnessed the impact on one of my grandchildren I knew enough was enough. It was time to break the cycle.

Because honestly? My mum was amazing. And I’m amazing. And so are my children, and hers. So are you.

Even if you don’t realise it yet.

Live life the way you actually want to. Starting now.

 

Perfectionist tendencies and burnout – do you think those two things are related? Yep? I reckon you’re right.

Nowadays I run my own business. You’re here reading about me, and I’m here telling you it’s not easy, but it is possible. And I’ve learnt stacks along the way, which I’m excited to share with you.

Here’s a big one:

if you try to be like someone else, you’re always going to be a second-class version of them.

Because there's only one of them, and, more importantly, there’s only one of you.

There’s a whole lot of my story that won’t fit on this page, but I think you get it. As important as our history is, it doesn’t have to define our future. You’re steering the ship. You can choose your own adventure. You just need a little help figuring out how that looks in real life, and how to rewire your thoughts so you can get started.

Which is precisely why I’m here for you.

This isn’t a ‘fake it ‘til you make it’ thing.

There’s no pretending here. My goal is to uncover your brilliance so you can’t even deny it’s been there, shining away all this time. From there we’re going to work on how best to keep that spark alight for others to follow, and for you to see reflected back to yourself.

When we’re done (not that we’re ever truly done - even I’m still forever finding ways to embrace my personality traits, grow as a human, and continue being my authentic self) you’ll be super connected and comfortable with being you.

You’ll be released from all the beliefs and habits that keep you where you are now – burnt out, overwhelmed, limited, stuck! – and free you up to feel good about yourself exactly as you are.

You get one crack at this glorious life, so let’s get you living it in a way that brings you joy and fulfilment every day.
